What is GLA:D?
The GLA:D® program is an education and exercise program developed by researchers in Denmark for people with hip or knee osteoarthritis symptoms.
The program combines education and exercise to provide you with the best care for managing osteoarthritis (OA). This is based on the latest evidence in OA research.
What does the program involve?
Your journey begins with a thorough assessment by your physiotherapist to evaluate your current function and establish personalised goals. You’ll then attend two comprehensive education sessions where you’ll learn about osteoarthritis, understand its risk factors, explore treatment options, and discover effective self-management strategies.
The program includes twice-weekly group exercise sessions over a six-week period. At the three-month mark following your initial appointment, we’ll conduct a detailed review to assess your progress and set new goals.
To track your improvement, you’ll complete questionnaires at three key points: upon registration, at three months, and twelve months after starting the program. These assessments help us monitor changes in your pain levels, functional ability, and overall quality of life.
Participating in the program.
You can participate in the GLA:D program if you have had any experience with hip or knee pain symptoms due to OA, regardless of how bad. No referral is required although you may be eligible to use Medicare funding to cover costs of assessments with an Enhanced Primary Care referral from your treating doctor.
Get in touch with one of our staff members today if you would like to discuss the program, or go online and book a “GLA:D initial consultation” to get started.
